AGH University of Science and Technology is a leading Polish university in modern technologies and a prestigious international educational centre. Long and rich tradition is also a factor determining the University's popularity - AGH UST has existed for 100 years and during this time it has educated groups of the most required engineers in Poland. The University has also other assets: a perfect location in the most beautiful and oldest Polish city of Krakow, its own university campus, a modern teaching and research base housing a modern teaching and research equipment, lively and developing international and domestic collaboration with other universities. At AGH UST students can gain qualifications in 58 branches of studies and over 200 specializations.


Research Subject Areas at AGH UST: Information Technologies, New Materials and Technologies, Environment and Climate Changes, Energy and its Resources, Mining, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Exact and Earth Sciences, Social-Economic Sciences, and Humanities. International collaboration is treated as one of the most important elements of the educational and academic development of the university. AGH UST has signed ca. 400 direct collaboration agreements with foreign partners. Each year, AGH UST collaborates in 200 research projects, supported by the EU Framework Programmes, Interreg, COST, EUREKA, SAVE, ALTENER, CULTURE 2000, DESY, CERN, Erasmus LLP (ca. 200 agreements), Leonardo da Vinci, CEEPUS, TEMPUS, the Visegrad Fund, eTEN, and the ESF. The scientific activity of AGH-UST employees is reflected by the number of over 1600 yearly publications in Polish and international scientific magazines and about 2000 papers delivered at conferences, out of which about 600 are published in international magazines.

AGH UST is an important centre of creating and transferring innovative technologies and ideas. The AGH University of Science and Technology innovative potential is expressed in its intellectual property, embracing patents, trademarks, utility models and research projects. A special unit, Centre for Technology Transfer, was established at the AGH UST to create mechanisms facilitating and intensifying the transfer of innovative technologies and knowledge from the university to entrepreneurs, industries and other external institutions.

AGH UST also hosts the Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET, which is a leading institution in the field of operating and developing the city computer network (Metropolitan Area Network – MAN), as well as in the area of using computers of high computing power. The Centre serves science, especially in the field of computer networks, computing power, and other information technology services.

The AGH Faculty of Management supports the development of modern management systems for organizations (including small enterprises and start-ups) acting in the economy based on knowledge by means of creating and transferring advanced and practical knowledge in the field of economic and teaching sciences. The educational offer for students is a reflection of the traditions and challenges of the contemporary market and is conducted at three fields of study: Management, Management and Production Engineering, and Information Technology and Econometrics. The educational offer which enables lifelong learning encompasses first and second-cycle part-time studies, doctoral studies as well as postgraduate programmes aimed at the management practitioners.
